In a study published in the journal Experimental Eye Research suggests that catechins, generously found in green tea helps prevent blindness which may occur due to cataract. Another similar study points to the same conclusion. In one such study, the Chinese scientists have found that when rats are administered green tea, the retina in the eyes of the rat absorbs most of the green tea antioxidants from blood. This enable the eyes of the rats to fight diseases including glaucoma. However most of these studies were based on tests where the rats were administered green tea extract in the lab. The same is has not been established on human till now.
